Drip systems water in small amounts which helps plants fully absorb moisture. It is easier to regulate how much water your plants are getting with a drip system. A basic drip system you can build yourself is easily controllable and you allows you to adjust the water flow where it is needed. When installing your drip system be sure to bring a chair to reduce wear on your body– the process can easily wear out your arms and legs from stretching and kneeling. Be sure to buy brand names for assured quality. Brand names don’t have to be expensive and you’ll find a variety to choose from online.
Misting systems are known for watering plants evenly. The way they water your plants makes them perfect for rare flowers. There are a few things to consider when choosing a misting system though. 1. Drainage. Be sure that water runs out of the greenhouse to prevent unwanted algae growth and rot. 2. Absorption. Around 80-90% of water should be absorbed so you’ll need to mist 1.2 times the water you would normally need. 3. Drain Valve. This prevents water from collecting in the hose and grow algae. Teflon pipe usually works best to prevent this.
Now that you are more familiar with these systems you'll be able to decide what will work best for you. E-mail this page Printer-friendly page
